Job Title:  Pinellas County Seeking VAB Counsel

VAB Counsel

SUMMARY:
Pinellas County Government, on behalf of the Value Adjustment Board (“VAB”) is re-soliciting letters of interest from individuals interested in providing legal services (“Counsel”). The VAB serves as the decision-making authority when there is disagreement between the property owner and Property Appraiser concerning exemptions, valuations and classifications. Petition filing and scheduled quasi-judicial hearings are handled by the VAB to settle any disputes. The Board Records Department of the Clerk of Circuit Court has been designated to serve as the Clerk to the VAB and processes related to the VAB are administered by this Department. Job Title:  Martin County Attorney’s Office

Senior Assistant County Attorney

SUMMARY:
A senior assistant county attorney performs highly responsible legal work of a variety, difficulty, and complexity requiring prior professional experience for the delivery of legal services to the Board of County Commissioners, Departments and other Boards and Commissioners. A senior assistant county attorney often works with significant independence.

An employee in this class prepares, reviews, and analyzes legal documents, briefs, legal opinions, and drafts of proposed legislation. Responsibilities include the representation of various Departments and elected officials in litigation and/or administrative proceedings, as well as responding to a variety of legal questions, complicated by the absence of legal precedents clearly and directly applicable or by different possible constructions that might be placed on either the facts or the law. Disposition involves specialization in certain legal fields, and assignments include matters of substantial importance.

Work is performed under the supervision of the County Attorney and is reviewed through observation, conferences, reports and examination of the work product.
